Dave Friedman Solo Guitar
2005 - "Allemande, BWV 996". Johann Sebastian Bach
Allemande from Bach's Suite in E Minor BWV 996, exemplifies the sheer contrapuntal genius of this superior German composer.
Penned in 1707, it has been traditionally associated with the Baroque lute due to the prevalent stylistic attributes and range consistent
with the instrument. However, there is nothing in all the vast baroque lute literature that can compare in technical difficulty with this suite
in the form in which it has come down to us. It appears "aufs Lautenwerck," written on the manuscript in the late 18th-century suggests
Bach had penned this suite for the "lute harpsichord"- of which Bach owned two. The sound of these instruments simulated that of the
lute so closely that it was said that they could deceive the ear of a professional lutenist. The sweet harmonies evoked in the Allemande
demonstrate how Bach's counterpoint is among the most intellectually precise counterpoint ever conceived. I hope you enjoy listening
to, as much as I enjoyed playing this piece!

2005 - "Killing Me Softly"  Med. Rock/Latin Ballad written by Charles Fox & Norman Gimbel, widely known through Roberta Flack's
rendition. Arranged for guitar and performed by Dave Friedman.

2005 - "Misty" Classic jazz standard written in 1954 by Erroll Garner. 'Misty', which is recognised by many as 'the ultimate love song', is
Garner's best-known composition. It has been recorded by several hundred artists, and is the title song of a Clint Eastwood film, 'Play
Misty For Me'. Arranged for guitar and performed by Dave Friedman.

2005 - "My Funny Valentine"  is a show tune from the 1937 Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart musical Babes in Arms. After being
recorded by Chet Baker, Frank Sinatra and Miles Davis, the song became a popular jazz standard, appearing on over 1300 albums
performed by over 600 artists. Arranged for guitar and performed by Dave Friedman.
